This private home is not open to the public, but can be viewed from the sidewalk. Built in around 1840, it is one of Florida’s most beautiful antebellum homes. Parts of the Battle of Marianna were fought on the grounds and the house was struck by numerous bullets and even a cannon ball! During the Reconstruction era, freed African Americans held political rallies in the pecan grove behind the house. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places.
